Stapelia gigantea, the Carrion Flower

This is my Stapelia giganteas in bloom. I have seen three open so far... maybe the rest will or have, but i've been away for a few days. This bloom, when open, attracts flies and ants- it smells like rotting meat. Sure enough, if you get close to it, you can smell it! Blooms fall off pretty fast, within a day to a day and a half. I grew most of these from one small cutting that was given to me.

Beautiful blooms, larger than most of the succulents. They open like moon flowers and certain roses by twisting open.

And the primrose, alligator plants, and clovers are taking over, I know.
